A lifelong creative spirit and dedicated member of the Centralia Cultural Society, Lana Shaw has worn many artistic hats—member of Little Theatre Players, President of Creative Endeavors, and Director of Elmwood Speaks. In this spotlight, she shares how the Cultural Society has helped her discover her creative voice and express her storytelling through the arts.

There’s been so many! I’ll always remember getting my first role for a CCS show, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. On top of it being an incredible, well known show, the people that were involved were amazing to me, and a huge reason I fell in love with CCS.

I think with the Cultural Society we are just letting the weird be weird, taking that weirdness, not only accepting it or celebrating it but NURTURING it and turning it into the most beautiful things! I mean all the senses things... sound, vision, taste, feel, smell, ALL of the things.

I got involved knowing I would have a chance to show my artistic side. I stay involved because I feel like I get to make a difference and help promote the arts in Centralia.

Getting on the board of the Centralia Cultural Society was by chance. I have volunteered there for a few shows.

The Cultural Society seemed like a really good fit for me with my love for musicals and concert band.

Arts in Education had the pleasure of providing a technology experience to over 500 local elementary students this week with "Bot! The Secret Life of Robots".
